Flights from Los Angeles to San Francisco are among the ten busiest flights in the United States. Many travelers prefer a 90-minute flight to a six-hour train ride in traffic. A small California company, Dreamstar Lines Inc., has offered another option: the first hotel on rails in the United States.
The high-speed train-hotel will depart at approximately 10 p.m. local time and arrive at 9 a.m. local time. This is just enough time to rest and sleep, especially considering that the train will have full-fledged rooms rather than upper berths near the toilet.
Travelers will be offered several accommodation options. A single room will cost around $300. A double room will cost $600. A premium room will cost $1,000.
Tickets can be purchased online: both on the company's website and in a special app. In the latter, travelers will also be able to pre-order meals, arrange various services, and view useful information.
Initially, the company wanted to launch its first routes in the summer of 2024. However,theDreamstarwebsitenow states that trips on this hotel train may be available as early as this winter.
This option for traveling between cities can be significantly cheaper: the price of a night ticket is comparable to the cost of a plane ticket + hotel. In addition, the central train stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco are located close to the city centers. So this is a great opportunity to avoid long taxi rides.
