Pablo Escobar's hometown of Medellin was the top destination in July

A city once considered the most violent in the world, where explosions and shootings were commonplace, became the best place to vacation in July 2023. MoneyTransfers.com discovered this based on the results of a study.

Experts took into account various factors, including weather, average hours of sunshine, and the cost of accommodation, food, and transportation. The goal was to find the best conditions for a vacation. In the end, Medellín, Colombia, was chosen as the winner. The city was recognized as one of the most underrated places in the world, and it is recommended to visit it in July.

This city once "belonged" to drug lord Pablo Escobar. Back then, the murder rate was five times higher than in New York, and explosions, murders, and shootings were an everyday occurrence. But today, the city is far removed from the dark days of the Medellín cartel.

In July, Medellín experiences its tropical rainy season, which is to be expected for this destination. The temperature in the city remains at 27.6°C.

However, average daily expenses are now incredibly low, at around $56. So tourists can enjoy everything the city has to offer without worrying about spending a fortune.

Incidentally, hundreds of visitors have recommended Medellín's Metrocable cable cars on Tripadvisor. It connects the city center with the surrounding settlements on the hillsides.
