The research was conducted on the Which platform. More than 3,500 travelers who had already visited 44 European coastal cities in 2023 completed the questionnaire. Each location was evaluated according to 12 criteria:
- city beach;
- waterfront or marina;
- food and beverages;
- placement;
- attractions;
- attractiveness;
- shopping;
- entertainment;
- silence and tranquility;
- safety;
- friendliness;
- value for money.
According to the survey results, the Spanish port city of Valencia scored 91% out of 100%. Tourists wrote glowing reviews about the local beaches, value for money, accessible attractions, shops, and friendly attitude. The city received five stars for each of these indicators.
Venice and Porto shared second place with a score of 88%. The Italian city was highly rated for its "magical" views and unique architecture. The latter was praised for its marina, friendliness, and value for money.
